Which is the best free backup software available?

I have no idea about back up anything! but i really need one that works, has a user-friendly interface and...i guess that's about it. And what exactly do these programs do?

1. Depends on your OS and what you need to back up. More than likely, you are using Windows XP or Vista. Go to Programs >> Accessories >> Backup. It works. You create system restore points with it. For most people, it is good enough. If you have lots of music, videos, documents, etc. Get a Western Digital external drive with the button on the front. You just hit the button and it backs up.
