Automatic Backup? Does anyone know of a free backup program that would automatically copy file/folders to a backup folder on a hardrive? My main problem is that one of the files I want to back up has to stay open. It is a text file that is edited in microsoft Excell, and is saved as a text file upon each edit. I've tried everyday auto backup and it will copy everything but that one file. Any help appreciated. Will be watching this question closely, so I'll be glad to give clarification when needed. Vista startup repair not working? Automatic backup? So I basically got a little crazy with my internet browsing and prolly attracted some viruses. I opened up Spyware Doctor. I needed to update it to the newest version, but Smart Update wasn't working, so I followed a YouTube video's instructions on how to update SD when Smart Update isn't working. The video worked and I was able to get the latest version of SD. By then my Vista Home Premium was VERY slow and laggish. I restarted it at least 5 times. Finally, I decided to try SAFE MODE. It was much faster. I opened up Spyware Doctor in Safe Mode and ran a scan. It found a bunch of infections. I removed them all and restarted the PC. It wouldn't turn on. Every single time I tried it would say "Windows cannot startup". I tried the system repair, and got "system repair cannot fix this problem automatically" or something. What can I do? And does anyone know if Windows Vista Home Premium comes with automatic backup turned on? I have some EXTREMELY IMPORTANT documents on the hard drive and do not want to restore the whole thing. I also want to use a piece of backup software (whether for Mac or PC) to to automatic scheduled backups, if possible. To add, my external drive has USB and Firewire interfaces; so if I can backup these computers, can I have one using USB and the other using Firewire (so I don't have to keep switching cables back and forth)? HELP!! I accidentally deleted my files on Drive D and now my files wont backup?!? Ok so this is what happened. Everyday my windows vista does and automatic files backup. It worked fine until one day a thing popped up during the backup and it said my backup failed because my drive D was full. So I came on here and someone said it was safe to delete all the files on my drive D, so I did. The files still wont work now because there is no folder for the backup files to go into. I tried doing the backup to another Drive, like drive C, but it wont give me that option. How can I recover my folders in Drive d?? Which ones were there??

Any recommendations 4 me getting new computer? Hello I am a man in my seventies well past the age of learning new skills in technology. I am purchasing a new computer becasue my old one, bought in 1998(but since redone with XP) is breaking down. I had problems with Dell support before so I am hesitant to buy from them again unless they are the best choice. I do not use for much, just the writing of six important books, and I plan to install automatic backup software for them, and I use the internet for newspapers and e-mail. I want a faster computer which does not take ages to start up and start word and browser. I would prefer it a Windows desktop. But I like very little errors, a minimum of errors. And I would like to pay less rather than more.

Is there a way to automatically back up everything in Firefox (eg autofill, passwords, toolbar icons)? I lost all my settings (except passwords, but I'm worried these may be lost next time this happens) with a recent Firefox update. I was able to recover the bookmarks from the profile folder. Advertisement Pop ups and Explorer Errors? I got many trogan viruses, PCcilline removed them but I cant get on the net. I get advertisement popups and then have to shutdown and get sometype of error. Can I add a new hard drive to an existing (1) drive computer & setup RAID-1 without formatting the 1st drive? I want to to have automatic backups.

If I run a RAID 0 (two internal HD) and use an external backup drive could it backup the RAID correctly? I want to run RAID 0 for performace, I'd like the security of RAID 10 but don't want to have to buy 4 HD. Is it possible to run RAID 0 and use a backup external HD (as big as the combined RAID drives) and do a once-a-day backup for security? Or anything to that nature. I know that if one of the drives fails it wouldn't be automatic rebuild, like RAID 10 but at least my data would be safe on another HD, right?
