Backup software? I am looking for a backup software that can backup Windows XP and/or Small Business Server 2003. I would prefer one that emails me a confirmation when the backup is complete and can be set up with a schedule. I am looking at only backing up data files and not system files. I want to backup locally.
Backup Software? I need a solution that allows me to backup any selected files/folders/drives from all of the following on a wired and wireless home network: - Laptop running Windows XP Pro - Computer running Windows XP Pro - Computer running Windows Vista Home Premium to a Windows XP Professional computer located on the network via ethernet. These backups will most likely be setup differently on each computer, for example the computer running Vista will need to backup every night, but the others would be once a week. Altermately l am looking for some kind of software solution and preferably not to expensive!
backup software? hi what is the best software to use for backup a whole hdd or partition onto dvd discs? like: select the whole drive with everything on it, and then the software would ask for the disks until its finished backing up? i looked at the softwares guys, this cobian backup looks very good and professional, but there is no option to save to dvd disk. of course i could do manually but that would be a real pain. i have a whole partition with 90GBs of music, like 200 folders and god knows how many files (from 1mb to 800mb, mostly mp3, but avi and mpeg as well) so the best would be some kind of option after the files have been selected: source dvd, file size 4.4gb or 8gb... with compression or without does not matter. 1 file or exact mirror of all dir.s and files also no matter....

What would your perfect backup software be like if you could make it do anything? What would you like it to do? I plan on developing a backup solution and I am looking for suggestions and features. Example: automated backup, backup to the internet, unlimited backup, no file size limit, sharing, sending files to friends, access data from anywhere etc. What do you want? Go crazy! I am not looking for another software to use, because I have tried them all and I do not like them. I want to develop a new backup solution.
What is a good, backup software for linux? We have 3 linux (RedHat ES3) We are thinking we want commercial software, but open source software is not out of the question. I definitely want a central management interface, so I can schedule/backup/restore, from on single machine/tape drive. I want something with DR bare-metal restore capabilities. Ease of installation, and administration, is much much preferred -- If there are specific advantages (and really good documentation community support, like for a good OpenSource option), I might be willing to give a little "ease" up -- but for the most part we want something that wont take a lot a time to set up and maintain. Not necessary but .. We might actually decide to use DVD DL media for our backups. If we did, it would be nice if the software had a windows interface for the management, so the discs could be burned from on the windows machine with the DVD DL drive. Anyway -- interested to hear what people thing about the different options that are out there!!

Good backup software for our small office? What we need is a way to backup a "start-up machine." To explain, when we get a new computer for a customer service employee, we have an abundance of in-house software to install for them, etc. Is there a good way to clone a machine in this "Fresh" state that we can use for future employees? That way we don't have to go through all those installation steps in the future. Any ideas?

Microsoft Backup for Windows Vista or Second Copy backup software? Is there any advantage to running a program like Second Copy instead of Microsoft Backup for Vista? Second Copy is a exact copy while Microsoft separates into many folders. I already have a license for second copy, but I'm not sure if it is an advantage to use it. It looks cleaner, but maybe Microsoft is doing a better job of copying the files I need.

What backup software do you use to BURN backup CDs? Years ago, I used the ONE STEP Backup with my old Zip Drive. Once I configured it, it was ONE CLICK and it made an awesome backup and archive set. Better yet, I would like this great backup software to be a FREE download and work with any configuration of Windows.
